I joined as the first frontend software engineer in the newly established Belfast division of a global cybersecurity leader, helping shape the foundation of our web engineering presence locally. I work within a complex React-based monorepo, collaborating with international teams to deliver scalable, performant, and secure interfaces for enterprise-grade cybersecurity products.

My responsibilities include designing and implementing reusable UI components, optimising build processes, and ensuring seamless integration with modern web services. I actively contribute to architectural decisions, developer experience improvements, and knowledge sharing across global engineering teams.

Beyond feature delivery, I focus on code quality, testing, and performance optimisation, while championing best practices in accessibility, security, and maintainability. This role allows me to combine hands-on engineering with strategic influence, shaping the growth of the frontend discipline within the Belfast hub.

In this fixed-term contract role, I led the development of a high-performance monorepo architecture using Solid.js on the frontend and Java-based services on the backend. The focus was on integrating machine learning testbeds into scalable, accessible web applications. I built the CI/CD pipeline from the ground up using GitHub Actions, deploying via AWS for secure, fault-tolerant infrastructure.

My work involved modernising API integration across services to reduce technical debt and improve performance. I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams and oversaw frontend architecture decisions, mentoring junior developers and conducting code reviews to maintain high standards.

I also managed frontend SEO strategy, leveraging GA4 for performance insights, and ensured our UI/UX implementations met accessibility (WCAG) and responsive design best practices. This fixed-term contract role combined strategic planning with hands-on engineering to deliver robust, maintainable, and forward-compatible solutions.

As a consultant, I collaborated with various high-profile clients, guiding them through the development process and defining the scope and limitations of their requirements.

In two significant projects, I played dual roles as the Scrum Master and Lead Developer. I ensured the application of Agile methodologies and the achievement of all project milestones. In another projects, I took on the role of Technical Lead, steering both the strategic direction and technical aspects of the project.

From a technical aspect, I was proficient in a broad array of tools and platforms, including React, Angular, Next.js, Node.js, Python, and C++. Beyond these, I delve into the realms of AI and machine learning, always keen to leverage cutting-edge technologies to foster innovation and informed decision-making for our clients. These skills were vital for product development and project bids.

I was a Front End Developer at Etain Software, serving as a Project Contractor for Allen & Overy. I coordinated with the Legal Tech team and designed, developed, and implemented exclusive web applications for clients from all around the world.

In addition, I acted as a consultant and lead developer on various projects, implementing both new frameworks and legacy tech stacks, such as MVC, React, PUG, and others.

In this role, I was also responsible for training placement students, recent graduates, and colleagues transitioning from other teams to either join our team or contribute to other projects.

I was GoReport's primary technical development engineer co-ordinating with Operations and Development teams. I was responsible for the creation of exclusive web applications to our clients' survey needs. These web applications would be created within HTML, PHP (Laravel) and LESS utilizing JavaScript based technologies, to be merged with Prince XML software to generate PDF reports.

These applications would be dynamic and adaptable to various data formats collated from our IOS application. I have also spearheaded the project timelines for various large-scale company-wide projects such phase 2 of our smart product line.

The role then extended to a supervisory role of training new engineers and management of placement students from Belfast Metropolitan College.

For my academic placement I worked as a junior consultant within Convergys Limited IT department. During to my time here I was in charge of various tasks such as:

• System Network Infrastructure Maintenance
• Network & Security Protocol Servicing
• Customer Complacence Support
• Assissting in new personel training

As assistant manager I was responsible for various tasks such as handling finances, customer care, dog training and obedience schools. The dogs I trained were used as drug and explosive detection hounds for various global police forces.
